Facility Construction Built for Critical Operations

Tricon’s Facility Construction teams self-perform structural steel, mechanical, and piping scopes that hold up under real-world pressure. We know what’s at stake when your new build, expansion, or retrofit has no room for error — so we plan it right, staff it right, and deliver it like we’d build it for ourselves. When every trade shows up ready and accountable, your whole facility works better from day one.

Case Study Overview

When a major regional power utility needed to expand a substation on an active transmission corridor, they turned to Tricon’s Facility Construction team to handle the full scope from steel erection to mechanical tie-ins — all without interrupting live grid operations.

Our crews self-performed structural steel erection, mechanical system installs, and complex piping work while coordinating multiple contractors and vendors under a tight regulatory window. Daily planning meetings and clear scopes kept every trade aligned. The project site posed several challenges, including limited access, tight staging areas, and a no-downtime mandate for surrounding equipment.

Tricon’s experienced foremen and QA/QC teams managed sequencing, material delivery, and real-time problem-solving to keep work moving safely. Thanks to our integrated safety approach and foreman-led oversight, the substation expansion was delivered ahead of schedule with zero recordables and full compliance with utility standards. The utility now benefits from increased grid capacity and improved reliability — and they have a trusted construction partner for future expansions.

Safety & QA Commitment

At Tricon, safety is our top priority. We implement rigorous protocols to ensure every project is completed without incident.

What scopes do you self-perform in Facility Construction?

Every scope on a Tricon project—whether delivered by our team or a trusted trade partner—is held to our standards for safety, quality, and performance. We take full responsibility for how the work gets done, and we stay closely involved from planning through completion.

In facility construction, that means assembling the right team for the job, managing the process with discipline, and ensuring every detail meets the expectations we set. At Tricon, we don’t just build—we lead the build.

Both — our teams handle greenfield builds, brownfield expansions, and retrofits, even on live, critical infrastructure sites.
Yes — every crew comes with experienced foremen and field leadership, so you get accountability from day one.
We plan with a zero-injury mindset, run daily site checks, and back it up with a 3-year TRIR of 0.00.
